DNA damage, homology-directed repair, and DNA methylation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2007
To explore the link between DNA damage and gene silencing, we induced a DNA double-strand break in the genome of Hela or mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells using I-SceI restriction endonuclease. The I-SceI site lies within one copy of two inactivated tandem

CpG DNA is a potent enhancer of specific immunity in mice immunized with recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen.

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 1998
Unmethylated CpG dinucleotides in bacterial DNA or synthetic oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) cause B cell proliferation and Ig secretion, monocyte cytokine secretion, and activation of NK cell lytic activity and IFN-gamma secretion in vivo and in vitro.

Mapping the sites of latency and reactivation by bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) and a thymidine kinase-deleted BoHV-5 in lambs

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2013
A thymidine kinase (tk)-deleted bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5tkΔ) was previously shown to establish latent infection and reactivate - even poorly - in a sheep model (Cadore et al. 2013). As TK-negative alphaherpesviruses are unlike to reactivate in neural

Coherent band pathways between knots and links [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We categorise coherent band (aka nullification) pathways between knots and 2-component links. Additionally, we characterise the minimal coherent band pathways (with intermediates) between any two knots or 2-component links with small crossing number. We demonstrate these band surgeries for knots and links with small crossing number.

Nonlinear waves in double-stranded DNA [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
We propose a nonlinear model derived from first principles, to describe bubble dynamics of DNA. Our model equations include a term derived from the dissipative effect of intermolecular vibrational modes. Such modes are excited by the propagating bubble, and we term it "curvature dissipation".

Recombinant vesicular stomatitis viruses from DNA.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1995
We assembled a DNA clone containing the 11,161-nt sequence of the prototype rhabdovirus, vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), such that it could be transcribed by the bacteriophage T7 RNA polymerase to yield a full-length positive-strand RNA complementary ...

Plasmid DNA-based Alphavirus Vaccines

open access: yesVaccines, 2019
Alphaviruses have been engineered as vectors for high-level transgene expression. Originally, alphavirus-based vectors were applied as recombinant replication-deficient particles, subjected to expression studies in mammalian and non-mammalian cell lines,

TOPALi: software for automatic identification of recombinant sequences within DNA multiple alignments

open access: yesBioinform., 2004
SUMMARY TOPALi is a new Java graphical analysis application that allows the user to identify recombinant sequences within a DNA multiple alignment (either automatically or via manual investigation).

Cloning of cDNA Encoding GRA1 Protein of Tachyzoite Toxoplasma Gondii Local Isolate

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Biotechnology, 2015
Gene encoding GRA1 protein is potent DNA-vaccine candidate against toxoplasmosis. The aim of the researchwas to clone the gene encoding GRA1 protein of tachyzoite Toxoplasma gondii local isolate by DNA recombinanttechnology.

Fusion of Taq DNA polymerase with single-stranded DNA binding-like protein of Nanoarchaeum equitans-Expression and characterization.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
DNA polymerases are present in all organisms and are important enzymes that synthesise DNA molecules. They are used in various fields of science, predominantly as essential components for in vitro DNA syntheses, known as PCR.
