Reclassification of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-metabolizing bacterium, Beijerinckia sp. strain B1, as Sphingomonas yanoikuyae by fatty acid analysis, protein pattern analysis, DNA-DNA hybridization, and 16S ribosomal DNA sequencing.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1996
A bacterium isolated from a polluted stream, capable of metabolizing biphenyl, naphthalene, phenanthrene, and higher-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (D. Gibson, V. Mahadevan, D. Jerina, H. Yagi, and H.

RKIP overexpression reduces lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness and sensitizes cells to EGFR‐targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RKIP, a metastasis suppressor protein, modulates key oncogenic pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. In silico analyses linked low RKIP expression to poor survival. Functional studies revealed RKIP overexpression reduces tumor aggressiveness and enhances sensitivity to EGFR‐targeted therapies, while its loss promotes resistance.

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

Possible role of human ribonuclease dicer in the regulation of R loops

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
R loops play an important role in regulating key cellular processes such as replication, transcription, centromere stabilization, or control of telomere length. However, the unscheduled accumulation of R loops can cause many diseases, including cancer, and neurodegenerative or inflammatory disorders. Interestingly, accumulating data indicate a possible

Electrochemical Detection of Sequence-Specific DNA with the Amplification of Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemistry, 2011
A sensitive electrochemical DNA biosensor was prepared based on mercaptoacetic acid (MAA)/gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) modified electrode. Probe DNA (NH2-DNA) was covalently linked to the carboxyl group of MAA in the presence of 1-ethyl-3-(3 ...

Differentiation of Xanthomonas campestris pv. Citri Strains by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis of Proteins, Fatty Acid Analysis, and DNA-DNA Hybridization

open access: yes, 1991
A total of 61 strains, including members of all five currently described pathogenicity groups of Xanthomonas campestris pv. citri (groups A, B, C, D, and E) and representing a broad geographical diversity, were compared by using sodium dodecyl sulfate ...

Liver‐specific lncRNAs associated with liver cancers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulatory molecules with various functions. They are more tissue‐specific than proteins and can be used as potential biomarkers, particularly in cancer diagnostics and prognosis. In this review, we have systematically compiled all lncRNAs with exclusive expression in the human liver, verified their liver specificity ...

Phylogeny of the avian family Ciconiidae (storks) based on cytochrome b sequences and DNA-DNA hybridization distances.

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 1997
This study is a phylogenetic analysis of the avian family Ciconiidae, the storks, based on two molecular data sets: 1065 base pairs of sequence from the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene and a complete matrix of single-copy nuclear DNA-DNA hybridization ...
