A Label-Free Impedimetric DNA Sensor Based on a Nanoporous SnO2 Film: Fabrication and Detection Performance

open access: yesSensors, 2015
Nanoporous SnO2 thin films were elaborated to serve as sensing electrodes for label-free DNA detection using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Films were deposited by an electrodeposition process (EDP).

The effects of mismatches on hybridization in DNA microarrays: determination of nearest neighbor parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Quantifying interactions in DNA microarrays is of central importance for a better understanding of their functioning. Hybridization thermodynamics for nucleic acid strands in aqueous solution can be described by the so-called nearest-neighbor model ...

The Relationships of the Hawaiian Honeycreepers (Drepaninini) as Indicated by DNA-DNA Hybridization

open access: yes, 1982
-Twenty-two species of Hawaiian honeycreepers (Fringillidae: Carduelinae: Drepaninini) are known. Their relationships to other groups of passerines were examined by comparing the single-copy DNA sequences of the Apapane (Himatione sanguinea) with those ...

Methanoculleus chikugoensis sp. nov., a novel methanogenic archaeon isolated from paddy field soil in Japan, and DNA-DNA hybridization among Methanoculleus species.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2001
A strictly anaerobic, irregularly coccoid, methanogenic archaeon, strain MG62T (= JCM 10825T = DSM 13459T), was isolated from paddy field soil in Chikugo, Fukuoka, Japan. The cells stained gram-negative, were 1.0-2.0 microm in diameter, were lysed by SDS

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Taxonomic re-evaluation of whorl-forming Streptomyces (formerly Streptoverticillium) species by using phenotypes, DNA-DNA hybridization and sequences of gyrB, and proposal of Streptomyces luteireticuli (ex Katoh and Arai 1957) corrig., sp. nov., nom. rev.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2003
The taxonomic status of 64 strains of whorl-forming Streptomyces (formerly Streptoverticillium) species was re-evaluated and strains were reclassified on the basis of their phenotypes, DNA-DNA hybridization data and partial sequences of gyrB, the ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Thermodynamic analysis of DNA hybridization signatures near mitochondrial DNA deletion breakpoints

open access: yesiScience, 2021
Summary: Broad evidence in the literature supports double-strand breaks (DSBs) as initiators of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) deletion mutations. While DNA misalignment during DSB repair is commonly proposed as the mechanism by which DSBs cause deletion ...

Application of Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis to Determine γ-ray-induced Double-strand Breaks in Yeast Chromosomal Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The frequency of DNA double-strand breaks (dsb) was determined in yeast cells exposed to γ-rays under anoxic conditions. Genomic DNA of treated cells was separated by pulsed field gel electrophoresis, and two different approaches for the evaluation of ...
