DragonRNA: Generality of DNA-primed RNA-extension activities by DNA-directed RNA polymerases

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research
Abstract RNA polymerases (RNAPs) transcribe DNA into RNA. Several RNAPs, including from bacteriophages Sp6 and T7, Escherichia coli, and wheat germ, had been shown to add ribonucleotides to DNA 3′ ends. Mitochondria have their own RNAPs (mtRNAPs).

Genetic and structural study of DNA-directed RNA polymerase II of Trypanosoma brucei, towards the designing of novel antiparasitic agents

open access: yesPeerJ, 2017
Trypanosoma brucei brucei (TBB) belongs to the unicellular parasitic protozoa organisms, specifically to the Trypanosoma genus of the Trypanosomatidae class. A variety of different vertebrate species can be infected by TBB including humans and animals.

BEAN and HABAS: Polyphyletic insertions in the DNA‐directed RNA polymerase

open access: yesProtein Science
AbstractThe β and β′ subunits of the RNA polymerase (RNAP) are large proteins with complex multi‐domain architectures that include several insertional domains. Here, we analyze the domain organizations of RNAP‐β and RNAP‐β′ using sequence, experimentally determined structures and AlphaFold structure predictions.

The Thymocyte-Specific MAR Binding Protein, SATB1, Interacts in Vitro with a Novel Variant of DNA-Directed RNA Polymerase II, Subunit 11

open access: yesGenomics, 2002
A yeast two-hybrid screen of a Jurkat (T cell) derived cDNA library, using SATB1 (a matrix attachment region binding protein) as the bait, yielded four independent isolates of a novel variant of the DNA directed RNA polymerase II, subunit 11 (RPB11). Absence of lysine-17 from the amino terminus of this variant cannot be explained by alternative mRNA ...
