Methylation of the imprinted GNAS1 gene in cell-free plasma DNA : equal steady-state quantities of methylated and unmethylated DNA in plasma [PDF]
Background Genomic DNA sequences in cell-free plasma are biomarkers of cancer prognosis, where characteristic changes in methylation of tumour suppressor or oncogene DNA regions are indicative of changes in gene activity.

We present the first solution structure of the Ca2+‐depleted LETM1 F‐EF‐hand through a D676A/N678A Ca2+ binding‐deficient mutant, revealing a closed hydrophobic cleft caused by a unique F1‐helix pivot. The apo LETM1 F‐EF‐hand exhibits regiospecific hot and cold unfolding, sensitivity to physiological pH changes and potential for promiscuous heterotypic

New insights on the mechanism of quinoline-based DNA methyltransferase inhibitors [PDF]
Among the epigenetic marks, DNA methylation is one of the most studied. It is highly deregulated in numerous diseases, including cancer. Indeed, it has been shown that hypermethylation of tumor suppressor genes promoters is a common feature of cancer ...

DNA Damage, Mutagenesis, and DNA Repair [PDF]
This special issue of the Journal of Nucleic Acids is dedicated to DNA damage and two important biological consequences provoked by such damage: lesion repair and lesion-induced mutagenesis. These phenomena have attracted broad interest among a large community of scientists that cross disciplines from mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology to ...

LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

SET1/MLL family of proteins: functions beyond histone methylation
The SET1 family of enzymes are well known for their involvement in the histone 3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methylation, a conserved trait of euchromatin associated with transcriptional activation.
