Eukaryotic DNA replication

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 1999
One of the fundamental characteristics of life is the ability of an entity to reproduce itself, which stems from the ability of the DNA molecule to replicate itself. The initiation step of DNA replication, where control over the timing and frequency of replication is exerted, is poorly understood in eukaryotes in general, and in mammalian cells in ...

Eukaryotic DNA Replication

Critical Reviews in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1992
The past decade has witnessed an exciting evolution in our understanding of eukaryotic DNA replication at the molecular level. Progress has been particularly rapid within the last few years due to the convergence of research on a variety of cell types, from yeast to human, encompassing disciplines ranging from clinical immunology to the molecular ...

Eukaryotic DNA replication

Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 1994
The past year has seen the genetic characterization of a human replication origin as well as the identification and characterization of some key components of replication initiation complexes in budding yeast. These results should provide important information for determining how the initial events in DNA replication are regulated during the eukaryotic

Adenovirus DNA Replication

1984
The molecular biology of adenoviruses is understood in considerable detail. This relates not only to the primary structure of the viral genome, transcription patterns, and virus/host cell interactions, but also to the mechanism of viral DNA replication.

Eukaryotic DNA replication

Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 1995
Recent discoveries suggest that the initiation of eukaryotic DNA replication involves at least two steps--one occurring near the completion of mitosis and the other at the onset of S phase--that bring about the ordered assembly of initiator proteins at the origin.

Fidelity of mammalian DNA replication and replicative DNA polymerases

Biochemistry, 1991
Current models suggest that two or more DNA polymerases may be required for high-fidelity semiconservative DNA replication in eukaryotic cells. In the present study, we directly compare the fidelity of SV40 origin-dependent DNA replication in human cell extracts to the fidelity of mammalian DNA polymerases alpha, delta, and epsilon using lacZ alpha of ...

DNA replication

2021
This chapter evaluates DNA replication, which occurs in three distinct phases: initiation, elongation, and termination. Initiation of replication in bacteria occurs at a unique chromosomal location called an origin, which is recognized by specific proteins.

Adenovirus DNA Replication

1995
Studies on the replication of adenovirus DNA were initiated more than two decades ago and quickly led to a novel displacement model for DNA replication (Sussenbach et al. 1972). These studies were mainly performed using intact infected cells or isolated nuclei.

Adenovirus DNA Replication

2003
Replication of the adenovirus genome is catalysed by adenovirus DNA polymerase in which the adenovirus preterminal protein acts as a protein primer. DNA polymerase and preterminal protein form a heterodimer which, in the presence of the cellular transcription factors NFI/CTFI and NFIII/Oct-1, binds to the origin of DNA replication.
