Occult hepatitis B virus infections (often with human herpesvirus 7 co-infection) detected in Pityriasis rosea patients: A pilot study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2017
Background: The etiopathogenesis of Pityriasis rosea (PR), a papulo-squamous skin disease, remains elusive and hypothesized to be caused primarily by human herpesvirus (HHV) 6 or 7 or immune dysfunction.

Infectivity of recombinant strawberry vein banding virus DNA

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2003
Infectivity of the cloned DNA genome of strawberry vein banding virus (SVBV) was demonstrated by particle bombardment of 4-week-old strawberry (Fragaria vesca L. var. UC-5) plants with gold particles coated with the putative full-length 7.9 kb viral DNA. Vein banding symptoms developed on 15 % of inoculated plants 6-7 weeks post-inoculation.

Epigenetic Control of Innate Immunity: Consequences of Acute Respiratory Virus Infection

open access: yesViruses
Infections caused by acute respiratory viruses induce a systemic innate immune response, which can be measured by the increased levels of expression of inflammatory genes in immune cells.

The effect of age on outcomes of coronary artery bypass surgery compared with balloon angioplasty or bare-metal stent implantation among patients with multivessel coronary disease. A collaborative analysis of individual patient data from 10 randomized trials.

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVES: This study sought to assess whether patient age modifies the comparative effectiveness of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Expression of Sindbis virus structural proteins via recombinant vaccinia virus: synthesis, processing, and incorporation into mature Sindbis virions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
We have obtained a vaccinia virus recombinant which contains a complete cDNA copy of the 26S RNA of Sindbis virus within the thymidine kinase gene of the vaccinia virus genome.

Molecular bases and role of viruses in the human microbiome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014

Inheritable epigenetic response towards foreign DNA entry by mammalian host cells: a guardian of genomic stability

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2018
Apart from its well-documented role in long-term promoter silencing, the genome-wide distribution patterns of ~ 28 million methylated or unmethylated CpG dinucleotides, e. g. in the human genome, is in search of genetic functions.

Experimental Cowpox Virus (CPXV) Infections of Bank Voles: Exceptional Clinical Resistance and Variable Reservoir Competence

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Cowpox virus (CPXV) is a zoonotic virus and endemic in wild rodent populations in Eurasia. Serological surveys in Europe have reported high prevalence in different vole and mouse species.
