Multiplexed Tandem Mass Spectrometry Imaging Enables Large‐Scale Isomer Mapping and Annotation in Tissues

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Parallel mass spectrometry imaging acquires high mass resolution and tandem mass spectrometry images from 108 isolation windows in a single run. Spatial similarity networking clusters product ions by spatial distribution, enabling annotation of isomers and isobars as demonstrated for phospholipids and oxidized cholesterol in mouse and human brain ...

Subjektivna dob, životno zadovoljstvo i zdravlje

open access: yesDruštvena istraživanja : časopis za opća društvena pitanja, 2002
The aim of the study was to examine the relationships between different measures of subjective age, as well as relations of these measures to the subjective health, life satisfaction and happiness. The subjects were 118 health care professionals, who were administered a questionnaire that was developed for the purpose of the study. Weak or non-existent

Unveiling a New Link: Cholesterol Deficiency in Smith–Lemli–Opitz and Niemann–Pick C as a Driver of Ciliopathies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ciliopathies are a group of genetic disorders caused by defective function of either the primary cilia (a large number) or the motile cilia (a much smaller number). These have been defined as diseases with mutations in genes encoding individual ciliary or cilia‐associated proteins.

Proximity‐Induced Transfer of a Mass Tag Enables Direct Profiling of Active Matrix Metalloproteases

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A proximity‐induced, mass‐encoded activity‐based protein profiling (ABPP) approach transfers a MALDI‐detectable α‐cyano‐4‐hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) tag directly to active proteases. This tag enables the direct, multiplexed, and quantitative detection of enzyme activity in complex proteomes without enrichment or purification.

Effect and Threshold of Endoscopic Findings for CRS Control Status and Long‐Term Outcome Prediction

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background EPOS 2020 defined chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) disease control using patient symptoms and medication usage but endoscopic findings were considered optional. The effect of adding endoscopic features, an appropriate threshold, and their association with present or future symptom control have not been studied.

A Finite-Time Disturbance Observer for Tracking Control of Nonlinear Systems Subject to Model Uncertainties and Disturbances

open access: yesMathematics
In this study, a finite-time disturbance observer (FTDOB) with a new structure is originally put forward for the motion tracking problem of a class of nonlinear systems subject to model uncertainties and exogenous disturbances.

Mechanisms of Mitochondrial Toxicity and Cytotoxicity Caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa Pyocyanin in Human Nasal Epithelial Cells

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen in cystic fibrosis‐related chronic rhinosinusitis (CF‐CRS) that produces phenazine metabolites pyocyanin and 1‐hydroxyphenazine (1‐HP), which may have detrimental effects on mitochondria, reactive oxygen species (ROS), Ca2+ signaling, and apoptosis.

On the Discorhabdins Leading to the Aleutianamine Ring System: A One‐Step in Situ Transformation Characterized Through Computational and Experimental Studies and Its Implications on Biosynthesis, Synthesis, and Pharmacology

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The thiocarbenium ion rearrangement of 3‐dihydrodisorhabdin B greatly increases the recovery of aleutianamine from Latrunculia spp., a pyrroloiminoquinone natural product with potent activity against drug‐resistant cancers, collected from the deep‐ocean along the Aleutian Islands.

Appropriate Medical Therapy Primarily Modifies Type 2 and Severity Biomarkers in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Appropriate medical therapy (AMT) is first‐line treatment for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). We evaluated inflammatory structure, treatment‐induced changes, and biomarker‐outcome associations in AMT‐managed patients. Methods Fifty‐one CRS patients were evaluated before and after AMT which included a combination of oral ...

Individualized Atrophy‐Based Prediction of Dementia Progression in Familial Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration With Bayesian Linear Mixed‐Effects Modeling

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Age of symptom onset is highly variable in familial frontotemporal lobar degeneration (f‐FTLD). Accurate prediction of onset would inform clinical management and trial enrollment. Prior studies indicate that individualized maps of brain atrophy can predict conversion to dementia in f‐FTLD.
