Tomography of atomic number and density of materials using dual-energy imaging and the Alvarez and Macovski attenuation model [PDF]
Dual-energy computed tomography and the Alvarez and Macovski [Phys. Med. Biol. 21, 733 (1976)] transmitted intensity (AMTI) model were used in this study to estimate the maps of density (ρ) and atomic number (Z) of mineralogical samples.

In Alpine chamois, the complete wear of the first molar coincides with the beginning of senescence and the progress of tooth wear on calcareous substrate is slower than the one on other substrates, increasing life expectancy. Thus, the first molar wear may actually be considered as an effective descriptor of senescence stage.

ABSTRACT In icon painting, chalk whiting is key to creating a gesso ground, providing a smooth, absorbent surface for paint. Calcareous nannofossils, tiny marine skeletons found in chalk, are an ideal tool for analyzing the origin of an icon's chalk ground, often the only reliable information about where the icon came from.

Survey of the diagenesis process and effect these process on reservoir quality of the Kangan formation in South Pars Field [PDF]
Kangan and Upper Dalan formations are forming reservoir sequence of the South Pars field. Litology of the kangan formation is carbonate and (limestone and dolomite with anhydrite intervals), so digenetic processes were very active in this formation and ...

This is the first proof of beachrock found on the nearshore of the Gulf of Saros. Beachrock generation was influenced by tectonic activity, geomorphological processes, and sedimentation. The Late Holocene beachrock deposits were altered by co‐seismic deformation.

Glacial erosion during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) has removed much evidence of earlier glaciations and interglacials in the European Alps. At Gröbminger Mitterberg (GM), beneath a blanket of LGM till, a distinctive sediment archive preserves deposits predating the LGM.
