Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

On Embedding Domain-specific Languages with User-friendly Syntax [PDF]
I present a strategy to define domain-specific languages with a natural-language syntax in an object-oriented host language. I describe ScalaDBC, a database library with an embedded DSL to encode queries in SQL-like syntax and that uses this strategy ...

High-quality writing instruction in Dutch primary education: A framework for national assessment [PDF]
In the Netherlands, nationwide assessments are periodically executed to evaluate the quality of teachers’ writing instruction and students’ writing in primary schools. These assessments provide an empirical basis for the societal debate about the content

Deriving biological applications from domain specific process models
In this paper we present how the process modeling and execution tools iPM and iPE can be used to model and execute biological processes. The main focus of this paper is on the flexibility of iPM and iPE with respect to the customization to the biological

Domain-Specific and Domain-General Training to Improve Kindergarten Children’s Mathematics
Ensuring that kindergarten children have a solid foundation in early numerical knowledge is of critical importance for later mathematical achievement. In this study, we targeted improving the numerical knowledge of kindergarteners (n = 81) from primarily

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
