Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Construction of a specialized terminology lexicon for coal mine safety
To address issues such as insufficient terminology coverage and inadequate domain-specific lexicon construction in coal mine safety production, a method for constructing a specialized terminology database for coal mine safety production is proposed.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Domain-Specific Expectations in Music Segmentation
The acoustic cues that guide the assignment of phrase boundaries in music (pauses and pitch movements) overlap with those that are known for speech prosody.

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Domain-specific and domain-general predictors of math anxiety in adolescents and adults [PDF]
It is well-established that a negative relation exists between math anxiety (MA) and math performance. However, because there has been no systematic quantitative research on the predictors of MA, we conducted three studies in adolescents and adults to ...

A Domain Specific Transformation Language
Domain specific languages (DSLs) allow domain experts to model parts of the system under development in a problem-oriented notation that is well-known in the respective domain. The introduction of a DSL is often accompanied the desire to transform its instances.

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

LabelFlow Framework for Annotating Workflow Provenance
Scientists routinely analyse and share data for others to use. Successful data (re)use relies on having metadata describing the context of analysis of data. In many disciplines the creation of contextual metadata is referred to as reporting.
