ABSTRACT Extreme heat is emerging as one of the most consequential occupational hazards of the 21st century. More than 2.4 billion workers, over 70% of the global labour force, are exposed to excessive heat, with more than 22 million heat‐related occupational injuries and nearly 19,000 deaths each year.

Dispersal, source and glass chemistry of a third tephra unit within Iceland's Settlement Layer
Tephra layers may be studied to understand the dynamics and sequence of past explosive volcanism. In Iceland, the distinctive Settlement Layer (AD ~877) underlies almost all archaeological evidence for the Norse Settlement and is preserved in soils across Iceland and as cryptotephra overseas.
