Constructing the “moralization shock”: The role of contingency in the translation of anticorruption policy in France

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
Abstract This article applies the concept of transaction to the process of policy transfer, through the case of conflict of interest regulation in France, using archives, documentary sources, and interviews with stakeholders. Integrating climate change, biological invasions, and infectious wildlife diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Climate change is likely to affect infectious diseases that are facilitated by biological invasions, with repercussions for wildlife conservation and zoonotic risks. Current invasion management and policy are underprepared for the future risks associated with such invasion‐related wildlife diseases. By considering evidence from bioclimatology, invasion

The Challenge of the Yuck Factor in Public Acceptance of Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, EarlyView.
This Perspective provides an examination of the drivers of disgust reactions to biotechnologies and how these are likely to arise toward engineered living materials, which incorporate living cells. To promote social acceptance of such materials, disgust reactions can be minimized though the design and development of such materials, science ...

Domestication and improvement genes reveal the differences of seed size- and oil-related traits in soybean domestication and improvement

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2022
To address domestication and improvement studies of soybean seed size- and oil-related traits, a series of domesticated and improved regions, loci, and candidate genes were identified in 286 soybean accessions using domestication and improvement analyses,

Fiscal Rules, Independent Fiscal Institutions and Sovereign Risk: Evidence From the European Union

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the effects of fiscal rules (FRs) and independent fiscal institutions (IFIs) on sovereign risk. To address potential endogeneity issues, we employ the System Generalised Method of Moments (GMM) estimator in an analysis comprising 24 European Union member states throughout the 2007–2019 period.

Haplotype‐resolved genome and pan‐genome graphs reveal the impacts of structural variation on functional genome and feather colors in chickens

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study built a Wenchang chicken haplotype genome and integrated it with 29 others to create a chicken pangenome atlas. Analysis of 354 chickens revealed 185,205 structural variations (SVs), with one‐third derived from homology‐based and transposable elements.

Aggregating distributed energy resources for grid flexibility services: A distributed game theoretic approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract We propose a hierarchical energy management scheme for aggregating Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) for grid flexibility services. To prevent a direct participation of numerous prosumers in the wholesale electricity market, aggregators, as self‐interest agents in our scheme, incentivize prosumers to provide flexibility. We firstly model the

Peer Effects in Bin ary Outcomes: Strategic Complementarity and Taste for Conformity With Endogenous Networks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Econometrics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a generalized model of peer effects for binary outcomes, based on a network game that accounts for strategic complementarity (influence of the number of peers that select the same action) and conformity to social norms (penalizing deviations from the average peers' action).
