Phytoplankton Community Structure in Dardanelle Reservoir, Arkansas, 1975-1982 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Phytoplankton data were collected with standard equipment and procedures over an eight-year period (1975-1982) in Dardanelle Reservoir, Arkansas. Community abundance and diversity at the genus level are described.

Copper Nanocrystallization in Anodic Oxide Films of Ti–Cu‐Based Bulk Metallic Glass and Its Effect on the Corrosion Resistance and Cytocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Viktoriia Shtefan, Thorgund Nemec, Ute Hempel, Annett Gebert and coworkers demonstrate that anodic treatment of Ti–Cu‐based metallic glass in a nontoxic pyrophosphate electrolyte forms a protective bilayered Ti/Zr‐oxide film enriched with Cu nanocrystals.

Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

The influence of the secondary electron induced asymmetry on the Electrical Asymmetry Effect in capacitively coupled plasmas

open access: yes, 2013
In geometrically symmetric capacitive radio-frequency plasmas driven by two consecutive harmonics a dc self-bias can be generated as a function of the phase shift between the driving frequencies via the Electrical Asymmetry Effect (EAE).

Large scale submarine groundwater discharge dominates nutrient inputs to China’s coast

open access: yesNature Communications
Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is a nutrient source to coastal waters. However, most SGD estimates are restricted to a local scale and hardly distinguish contributions from fresh (FSGD) and recirculated (RSGD) SGD. Here, we compiled data on radium/radon of groundwater (n ~ 2000) and seawater (n ~ 10,000) samples along ~18,000 km of China's ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Zero-discharge of nutrients and water in a willow dominated constructed wetland

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2001
A novel constructed wetland system has been developed to treat sewage, evaporate water and recycle nutrients from single households at sites where effluent standards are stringent and soil infiltration is not possible. Main attributes of the willow wastewater cleaning facilities are that the systems have zero discharge, the willows evapotranspire the ...

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Influence of gas flow direction on plasma propagation in a circularly bent flexible dielectric tube of different inner diameters

open access: yesAIP Advances
This study investigates the ignition of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma in a 110 cm long, flexible, circularly bent dielectric tube with inner diameters of 4, 8, and 10 mm. Helium feed gas was introduced at one end and exited from the other, with

Factors Affecting Sediment Deposition Thickness in Irrigation Channels and the Impact of Deposition on Stage–Discharge Measurement

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Accurate discharge measurement in irrigation channels is critical for improving water use efficiency and optimizing water allocation. To investigate the controlling factors of sediment deposition and its influence on the stage–discharge relationship ...
