Characterization of plankton from the Galveston estuary [PDF]
The purpose of this report is to summarize the published studies on phytoplankton and zooplankton in the Galveston Estuary. Before this project had begun, it was determined that there was insufficient long term data on plankton in the Galveston Estuary ...

Comparison of models of CO2-laser impedance fluctuations [PDF]
There is a large opto-galvanic effect (OGE) in CO2-N2-He laser mixtures and this is exploited in laser frequency and power stabilisation systems. Two substantially different theories have been advanced to explain the effect.

Discharging Approach for Double Roman Domination in Graphs
The discharging method is most well-known for its central role in the proof of the Four Color Theorem. This proof technique was extensively applied to study various graph coloring problems, in particular on planar graphs. In this paper, we show that suitably altered discharging technique can also be used on domination-type problems.

Depth of Solute Generation Is a Dominant Control on Concentration‐Discharge Relations [PDF]
AbstractSolutes in rivers often come from multiple sources, notably precipitation (above) and generation from the subsurface (below). The question of which source is more influential in shaping the dynamics of solute concentration cannot be easily addressed due to the general lack of input data. An analysis of solute concentrations and their dependence

Simulations of snow distribution and hydrology in a mountain basin [PDF]
We applied a version of the Regional Hydro‐Ecologic Simulation System (RHESSys) that implements snow redistribution, elevation partitioning, and wind‐driven sublimation to Loch Vale Watershed (LVWS), an alpine‐subalpine Rocky Mountain catchment where ...

Mercury-free high pressure discharge lamps dominated by molecular radiation [PDF]
High intensity discharge (HID) lamps dominated by molecular radiation offer a very promising alternative for use in future light sources. They are able to deliver competitive efficacies of about 110 lm W−1 and higher, excellent colour rendering index above 90 and a correlated colour temperature in the 3000–4000 K region at the operating point near the ...

Land use mediates riverine nitrogen export under the dominant influence of human activities
Riverine nitrogen (N) export is a crucial process that links upstream and downstream ecosystems and coastal zones. However, the driving forces of riverine N export that is closely related to water N pollution are still not well understood. In this study,
