Iron-catalyzed cascade C-C and C-O bond formation of 2,4-dienals with donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs) has been developed to furnish hexahydrocyclopentapyrans. Optically active DACs can be coupled stereospecifically (>97% ee).
