Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Genetic and pharmacological evidence that endogenous nociceptin/orphanin FQ contributes to dopamine cell loss in Parkinson's disease

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2016
To investigate whether the endogenous neuropeptide nociceptin/orphanin FQ (N/OFQ) contributes to the death of dopamine neurons in Parkinson's disease, we undertook a genetic and a pharmacological approach using NOP receptor knockout (NOP−/−) mice, and ...

Preventing Broodiness in Turkey Hens with a Dopamine Receptor Blocking Agent

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1980
Pimozide, a dopamine receptor blocking agent, was administered to turkey hens which were judged, on the basis of an increased nesting frequency, to be in transition between the laying and broody phases of a reproductive cycle. Treatment of hens with pimozide, either by subcutaneous injection or oral administration significantly decreased daily nest ...

The Effects of Red Grape Juice and Exercise on Parkinson's Disease in Male Rats

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2012
Background: Neural degeneration is induced by production of oxidant agents in neural pools. Red grape juice has antioxidant agents. Exercise can be able to protect dopaminergic neurons of brain.

Altered dopamine ontogeny in the developmentally vitamin D deficient rat and its relevance to schizophrenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2013
Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous group of disorders with unknown aetiology. Although abnormalities in multiple neurotransmitter systems have been linked to schizophrenia, alterations in dopamine neurotransmission remain central to the treatment of this ...

Development of a Human 3D Immune‐Competent Neurovascular Model Enabling Time‐Resolved Monitoring of Neuroinflammatory Dynamics and Neuroimmune Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuroinflammation alters blood–brain barrier integrity and contributes to neurological disorders, yet existing models lack human immune complexity. This study presents a 3D, immune‐responsive platform that reconstructs key neurovascular components and enables real‐time monitoring.
