Development of an LC-HRMS/MS Method for Quantifying Steroids and Thyroid Hormones in Capillary Blood: A Potential Tool for Assessing Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)

open access: yesMetabolites
Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) is a condition that arises from persistent low energy availability (LEA), which affects the hypothalamic–pituitary axis and results in alterations of several hormones in both male and female athletes.

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

Associations between the performance of vertical jump and accelerative sprint in elite sprinters

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between components of the Sprint Profile during acceleration and kinematic and kinetic measures of the Counter Movement Jump (CMJ) and Squat Jump (SJ), to determine whether jump ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Crossover Effects of Transition‐Metal Ions on Lithium‐Metal Anode in Localized High Concentration Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study highlights the impact of transition‐metal (TM) ions (Ni2⁺, Mn2⁺, Co2⁺) on the performance of lithium‐metal anode in localized high‐concentration electrolytes. Mn2⁺ and Co2⁺ destabilize SEI and CEI layers, causing capacity fade and overpotential, while Ni2⁺ shows minimal effects. These findings underscore the need for electrolyte optimization

Experimental and Theoretical Confirmation of Covalent Bonding in α‐Pu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a combination of Reverse Monte Carlo dynamic rigid body fitting to the pair distribution functional and novel density functional approaches, the existence of covalent bonding is confirmed in α‐plutonium alongside other bonding types (i.e. mixed bonding schemes).

Mixed‐Dimensional 0D‐DNA‐2D Heterostructures Beyond van der Waals: A DNA‐Templated Strategy for Optoelectronic Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐step DNA metallization process is presented for the modular assembly of metal sulfide nanoparticles (NPs) on MoS2, with nanoscale control over their separation and ability to concomitantly assemble different kind of NPs. This allowed to tailor the photoinduced electrical response of phototransistors to different wavelengths, according to the ...

Identification of hypoxene metabolites in urine samples using gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry for anti-doping control

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии
Objectives. Hypoxen is a drug which possesses antioxidant and antihypoxic effects. It achieves this by increasing the utilization of oxygen by mitochondria, intensifying oxidative phosphorylation, and as a result, improving tissue respiration.
