Obstructive prosthetic valve thrombosis (PVT) is a rare but severe complication that usually occurs in the presence of suboptimal anticoagulation. Although fluoroscopy is commonly used to detect abnormal leaflet motion as a surrogate marker for PVT, its inability to directly visualize adjacent tissue and valve physiology leaves it susceptible to miss ...

The advancements in Doppler methodology in the past decade have dramatically changed the way we assess children with heart disease. Techniques to determine pressures, gradients, shunt flows, and regurgitant lesions have shifted the noninvasive studies into areas that were strictly the venue of catheterization a decade ago. The more recent color Doppler

Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) is the only diagnostic modality that provides a reliable evaluation of intracranial blood flow patterns in real-time. The physiological information obtained from TCD is complementary to the anatomical details obtained from other neuroimaging modalities.

[Doppler effect in cardiology. Continuous Doppler, pulsed Doppler, Doppler color].
Presse medicale (Paris, France : 1983), 1989Echocardiography has contributed to the exploration of the heart by providing much information, and it has even given rise to new semiological concepts. However, abnormalities of intracardial blood flow, notably shunts and regurgitations, could only be diagnosed indirectly from their effects on cardiac cavities.

Doppler-free/Doppler-sliced ion imaging
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2006We demonstrate a hybrid Doppler-free/Doppler-sliced ion imaging approach that is well-suited for detection of H or D atoms. The method relies on 2 + 1 resonant ionization with identical, nearly counterpropagating beams that are coplanar but directed at a small angle relative to the detector face.

To describe the principles underlying oesophageal Doppler monitoring of cardiac output, and how invaluable information relating to left ventricular contractility, preload and afterload can be simply derived from the shape of the flow velocity waveform. This review highlights numerous applications in critical care and summarizes the nine prospective ...

Doppler Signal and Doppler Waveform Analysis
2021B-mode ultrasonography is used to determine the “morphology” of anatomical structures and organs; Doppler methods have the potential to offer “functional” information through blood circulation analysis.

Doppler ambiguity in laser Doppler velocimeters
Applied Physics Letters, 1973An analysis of the Doppler ambiguity for the laser Doppler velocimeter is presented which accounts for the signal statistics based on a Gaussian beam intensity. Results are in excellent agreement with experiment.
