Doppler sonar analysis of swallowing sounds in normal pediatric individuals Análise dos sons da deglutição pelo sonar Doppler em indivíduos normais na faixa etária pediátrica

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2009
Among the methods for assessing swallowing sounds - videofluoroscopy modified barium study, fiberoptic swallowing endoscopy, neck auscultation through a microphone, accelerometer and, more recently, the Doppler sonar - we have chosen the latter.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Accelerated Algorithm based on Modified Z-Buffer for Numerically Simulating the Dynamic Radar Echo from Wind Turbines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science
As wind farms increase in scale, the computation speed of traditional methods struggles to meet the requirements for simulating the dynamic radar echo they produce.

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.

Magnetostriction quasi-static measurements with laser Doppler effect

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2016
A quasi-static method for measuring the magnetostrictive coefficient of Fe-Ga alloys by using laser Doppler effect was put forward, and its working principle was also analyzed. The quasi-static magnetostrictive coefficient of Galfenol was measured.

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.
