: Unrealistic optimism is common among people making self-evaluations while reduced optimism has been linked to increased depressive symptoms. Given the importance of optimism for adaptive functioning, surprisingly little is known about resting brain ...

Using e-greedy reinforcement learning methods to further understand ventromedial prefrontal patients' deficits on the Iowa Gambling Task [PDF]
An important component of decision making is the process of choosing from a set of options. This choice is often based on an evaluation of the potential costs or benefits of selecting an option, its estimated reward value.

Intertemporal choice refers to decisions involving tradeoffs between costs and benefits occurring at different times. Studies have found that weighting the time and benefits during decision-making involves a complex neural network that includes the ...

Innovations in Obesity Treatment: Beyond Adipose Tissue Dysfunction
Obesity drives chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cancer development through adipocyte dysfunction. Addressing this multisystemic disorder requires integrated strategies beyond diet and exercise, such as thermogenesis activation via menthol or capsinoids and appetite control through GLP‐1/GIP agonists and neuromodulation to ...

Distinct Neural Circuits Underlie Prospective and Concurrent Memory-Guided Behavior
Summary: The past is the best predictor of the future. This simple postulate belies the complex neurobiological mechanisms that facilitate an individual’s use of memory to guide decisions. Previous research has shown integration of memories bias decision-

ABSTRACT Mnemonic discrimination—the ability to distinguish between existing memories and similar new inputs—supports accurate memory in the face of interference (e.g., in a card game, recognizing that the card you are currently seeing, the King of Hearts, is distinct from the King of Diamonds you encountered earlier in the same hand).

Abstract BACKGROUND Late‐onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) exhibits substantial biological heterogeneity. We developed a framework linking cell‐type–specific polygenic risk profiles to precision medicine in AD. METHODS Cell‐based polygenic risk scores (cbPRSs) derived from single‐nucleus RNA‐seq co‐expression networks were evaluated in Alzheimer's Disease

Combining top‐down rTMS over the left DLPFC with bottom‐up right median nerve stimulation markedly outperformed either modality alone, awakening 93% of patients with severe TBI by week 4 and improving EEG, hemodynamics, and GCS—supporting dual‐pathway neuromodulation as a safe, high‐efficacy strategy for coma recovery.
