The zinc finger domains of PARP‐1 are selectively and potently inhibited by the Au(I)‐based drugs sodium aurothiomalate and aurothioglucose

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
PARP‐1 is a key enzyme in the DNA damage response, and its inhibition induces cancer cell death via synthetic lethality. Au(I)‐based drugs, such as aurothioglucose and sodium aurothiomalate, block PARP‐1's DNA‐dependent activity by targeting its zinc finger domains.

Catastrophic chromosomal restructuring during genome elimination in plants. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Genome instability is associated with mitotic errors and cancer. This phenomenon can lead to deleterious rearrangements, but also genetic novelty, and many questions regarding its genesis, fate and evolutionary role remain unanswered.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Accelerating antibody development: sequence and structure-based models for predicting developability properties via size exclusion chromatography

open access: yesmAbs
Experimental screening for biopharmaceutical developability properties typically relies on resource-intensive, and time-consuming assays such as size exclusion chromatography (SEC).

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Towards Medicines Reuse: A Narrative Review of the Different Therapeutic Classes and Dosage Forms of Medication Waste in Different Countries

open access: yesPharmacy, 2020
Background: Medicines reuse, the idea of re-dispensing returned medicines to others following quality control, is yet to be implemented in the UK. This practice is potentially a sustainable way of dealing with returned medicines, which are otherwise ...

Electroanalytical determination of metronidazole in tablet dosage form [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2013
In this study, the electrochemical reduction and determination of metronidazole were easily realized in Britton-Robinson buffer (pH = 4.01) using UTGE by cyclic voltammetric (CV) and differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) techniques.
