Dose-area product in pediatric barium meal procedures
Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2019Abstract Pediatric barium meal procedures result in a higher patient dose than conventional X-ray imaging. Due to the fact that pediatric patients are more radiosensitive and more likely to develop mutations because of the radiation exposure during their lifetime a high patient dose is a concerning issue.

Skin dose and dose–area product values for interventional cardiology procedures
The British Journal of Radiology, 2001Coronary angiography and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty procedures performed in four different facilities were monitored in the present study by measuring maximum skin dose, dose-area product and other operational parameters. Radiographic slow film, thermoluminescent dosemeters and transmission ion chambers were used to measure dose ...

Automatic system for measuring dose - area product (DAP) in ROI fluoroscopy
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1997A computerized system for monitoring dose-area product (DAP) has been developed for region of interest (ROI) fluoroscopy in which patient exposure is reduced using an x-ray attenuating filter with an aperture. The system includes an IBM compatible computer which is connected through an IEEE-488 interface to an electrometer which measures the charge ...

A comparison of dose area product from different angiography procedures
Physica Medica, 2016Introduction The increased use of Interventional Radiology (IR) techniques the last decade and the extend fluoroscopy time during IR procedures deliver high radiation dose to patients and raised serious concerns about exposure to ionizing radiation.

The average dose-area product at intravenous urography in 205 adults.
The British Journal of Radiology, 1998The intravenous urography (IVU) is the most important and most frequently performed radiological examination in urology. This prospective study determined the dose-area product as a measurement of radiation dose in 205 adult patients undergoing IVU. Average dose-area product was 1017 cGy cm2.

A study of the correlation between dose area product and effective dose in vascular radiology
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2008The purpose of the multi-centre study was to assess dose area product (DAP) and effective dose of patients undergoing angiography of the lower limbs in Belgium and to investigate the correlation between DAP and effective dose. DAP values were measured in 12 centres and compared with the national diagnostic reference levels (DRLs). The effective dose (E)

Skin dose and dose–area product values in patients undergoing intracoronary brachytherapy
The British Journal of Radiology, 2003Entrance skin doses, dose-area product (DAP) values, fluoroscopy times and digital cine acquisition data were measured for 86 patients undergoing intracoronary brachytherapy procedures with beta sources, to estimate risk of skin injuries. Interventions were carried out in three dedicated X-ray interventional cardiology rooms equipped with X-ray systems

Dose-Area-Product to Effective Dose in Interventional Cardiology and Radiology
2009In this paper is explained how systematic tables are calculated for the determination of organ doses and effective dose from DAP values for interventional radiology and cardiology. This information is useful as an additional tool for dose optimization of patients for complex high-dose procedures.

Recording dose-area product information using an electronic personal organiser
Journal of Radiological Protection, 1991A limitation of commercially available instrumentation is that the dosimetry information recorded on the printer output is of limited scope. The work presented describes an inexpensive solution to this problem by the adaptation of an electronic personal organiser or filofax (PSION II LZ64). This instrument when used in combination with a diamentor dose-
