Criterion‐Related Validity of the Neuropsychological Quick Assessment for Screening Cognitive, Motor, and Behavioral Impairments in Patients With Pediatric Brain Tumors: An Observational Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropsychological complications may impair the qualitative prognosis of patients with pediatric brain tumors. However, multifaceted evaluations cannot be conducted in all patients because they are time consuming and burdensome for patients.

Korean-specific dose coefficients for external environmental exposures: Water contamination

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
The present study produced a comprehensive dataset of Korean-specific organ equivalent dose coefficients (DCs) for 29 radiosensitive organs and effective DCs for water contamination, thereby completing a series following our previous assessments for soil

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Radiation Dose Coefficients for Healthcare Waste and Water Comparison

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences
According to national and international standards, some groups and subgroups of Healthcare Services Waste (RSS) must undergo some type of treatment to reduce or eliminate the pathogen load before final disposal, to avoid harm to human health and the ...

Relationships of Radiation Dose Indices with Body Size Indices in Adult Body Computed Tomography

open access: yesTomography, 2023
We investigated the relationships between radiation dose indices and body size indices in adult body computed tomography (CT). A total of 3200 CT scans of the thoracic, abdominal, abdominopelvic, or thoraco-abdominopelvic regions performed using one of ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Korean dose coefficients for external exposures from air contamination

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
In the present study, the Korean-specific dose coefficients (DCs) for air contamination were produced using the adult mesh-type reference Korean phantoms (MRKPs).

Nothing Besides Remains: Preserving the Scientific and Cultural Value of Paleontological Resources in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Receptor occupancy assessed by Positron Emission Tomography (PET) can provide important translational information to help bridge information from one drug to another or from animal to man.
