The effect of selenium application to the soil on the sulphur and phosphorus content in potatoes

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2008
In a small-plot trial with potatoes were applied increasing doses of selenium to the soil (0, 12, 24, 48 and 72 kg Se . ha−1) and after harvest were explored the content of selenium, phosphorus and sulphur in raw tubers and in the tops.

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Intranasal inoculation with African swine fever virus genotype II reveals dose-dependent infectivity, pathogenesis and diagnostic challenges in pigs

open access: yesVeterinary Quarterly
The African swine fever virus (ASFV) surveillance strategies, including the early diagnosis, are key for prevention and control of African swine fever (ASF).

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Efeito da adubação nitrogenada nas propriedades químicas de um Latossolo, cultivado com milho em sucessão à aveia-preta, na implantação do sistema plantio direto - DOI: 10.4025/actasciagron.v29i5.741

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Agronomy, 2008
Avaliou-se o efeito de doses e do parcelamento do nitrogênio, aplicado como sulfato de amônio, nas características químicas do solo cultivado com milho em sucessão à aveia preta, na implantação do sistema plantio direto.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Influence of nutrition with leachate based on compost from vegetable waste on the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The economic instability in Peru was influenced by the post-pandemic period, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the geopolitical confrontation between the United States and China, which caused an increase in fertilizer prices.
