Dosimetry of Ionizing Radiation Based on Photoelectron Emission from PbS Nanoparticles

open access: yes
Lead sulfide nanoparticles with a diameter of 2.5 nm embedded in a 100 nm thick matrix of zirconium oxide by sol-gel technology (ZrOz:PbS nanofilms) were studied for application in dosimetry of ionizing ...

Passive detectors for neutron personal dosimetry: State of the art

open access: yes, 2004
Passive, solid-state detectors still dominate the field of neutron personal dosimetry, mainly thanks to their low cost, high reliability and elevated throughput.

Advances in mucosal injury mechanisms in radiation‐induced esophagitis associated with thoracic radiotherapy

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
There is no specific therapeutic drug regimen for radiation esophagitis. In previous studies, radiation esophagitis was considered a self‐limiting disease; however, current clinical approaches are limited to symptomatic treatment, which yields unsatisfactory therapeutic outcomes.

No evidence of the long-term in vitro toxicity of Aeroxide P25 TiO2 nanoparticles in three mammalian cell lines despite the initial reduction of cellular mitochondrial activity

open access: yesNukleonika
We studied the effects of Aeroxide P25 titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) with a diameter of 21 nm on induction of DNA damage and long-term survival of three human cell lines: hepatocellular liver carcinoma HepG2, colorectal adenocarcinoma HT29 ...

Toxicity of High-Density Polyethylene Nanoparticles in Combination with Silver Nanoparticles to Caco-2 and HT29MTX Cells Growing in 2D or 3D Culture

open access: yesMolecules
The enormous applications of various nanoparticles (NPs) have raised the possibility that humans may be simultaneously exposed to mixtures of them in real life.

Skeletal muscle status and malnutrition as predictors of short‐term radiotherapy response and oral mucositis in head and neck cancer

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Baseline muscle mass and malnutrition were not decisive for short‐term radiotherapy outcomes in advanced head‐and‐neck cancer, yet diminished hand‐grip strength signaled poorer tumor response. This suggests that functional muscle metrics may serve as an accessible, actionable biomarker warranting validation in larger longitudinal cohorts.

D.RE.A.M.: A software for uncertainties analysis in retrospective dosimetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Accidental exposures to ionising radiations are nowadays managed with assistance from biological and physical retrospective dosimetry which are able to provide individual estimates of dose absorbed by victims.

A Monte Carlo study of the energy dependence of Al2O3: C crystals for real-time in vivo dosimetry in mammography

open access: yes, 2005
In a previous experimental study, a novel method for in vivo dosimetry has been investigated, based on radioluminescence (RL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL).

Dosimetric comparison of lattice radiotherapy across three modern linear accelerator platforms

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
This study systematically compared the dosimetric characteristics of lattice radiotherapy plans designed on Versa HD, Halcyon, and NeuRT Aurora platforms, providing crucial reference data for future LRT plan design and evaluation . Abstract Background This study aimed to compare the dosimetric characteristics of lattice radiotherapy across different ...
