Quasi-real-time earthquake relocation and monitoring in the northeastern Noto Peninsula

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
The seismicity rate markedly increased in the northeastern Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture around the end of 2020, with an Mw6.2 event on 5 May, 2023, followed by many aftershocks.

Characteristics of relocated hypocenters of the 2018 M6.7 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake and its aftershocks with a three-dimensional seismic velocity structure

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2019
I relocated the hypocenters of the 2018 M6.7 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake and its surrounding area, using a three-dimensional seismic structure, the double-difference relocation method, and the JMA earthquake catalog.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

UNVEILING THE DYNAMICS OF DEEP-FOCUS EARTHQUAKES: INSIGHTS FROM THE 2020 JEPARA EVENT MW 6.7 AND SUBDUCTION PROCESSES BENEATH JAVA

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik
The 2020 Jepara earthquake (Mw 6.7) represents a significant deep-focus seismic event within the subducting Indo-Australian Plate beneath Java Island.

Foreshock migration preceding the 2016 Mw 7.0 Kumamoto earthquake, Japan

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
We investigated the spatiotemporal evolution of an earthquake sequence following a series of large shallow intraplate earthquakes, including a Mw 6.2 foreshock and Mw 7.0 main shock, in the Kumamoto area of Kyushu, SW Japan.

SEISMOTECTONIC STUDY OF THE SIBOLANGIT, NORTH SUMATRA REGION BASED ON DOUBLE-DIFFERENCE RELOCATION

open access: yesJurnal Geosaintek
Sumatra is one of the most seismically active regions in the world due to the oblique convergence between the Indo-Australian and Eurasian plates, where strain is partitioned between the Sunda megathrust and the Great Sumatran Fault (GSF). While most seismicity in North Sumatra occurs along mapped strands of the GSF, several damaging earthquakes have ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Double-Difference Seismic Event Relocation: A Study of the Applications and Limitations of the Relocation Problem

open access: yes
Earthquake relocation provides refined earthquake catalogs based on additional considerations or data beyond the initial earthquake location estimates. Double-difference relocation, in particular, utilizes the assumption that ray paths in close proximity to one another will pass through a similar earth velocity structure.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.
