Dynamic double layer force between charged surfaces

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We develop a theory for the “dynamic double layer force” between charged surfaces in an electrolyte under a time-dependent voltage. Specifically, the force between two planar surfaces is calculated within the Poisson-Nernst-Planck framework for dilute ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Josephson Effects in Double-Layer Quantum Hall States

open access: yes, 1998
Under quite plausible assumptions on double-layer quantum Hall states with strong interlayer correlation, we show in general framwork that coherent tunneling of a single electron between two layers is possible.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Thermal Performance Improvement of Cross-Flow Double-Layered Microchannel Heat Sinks through Proper Header Design

open access: yesEnergies
Over the past two decades, double-layered microchannel heat sinks (DL-MCHs) have become increasingly popular as they provide effective performance for electronic cooling, particularly in the counterflow configuration.

A laboratory investigation of potential double layers [PDF]

open access: yes
In a triple plasma device, the injection of electron current from the source chamber to the target chamber causes the formation of a potential double layer.

Capillary wave dynamics on supported viscoelastic films: Single and double layers

open access: yes, 2006
We study the capillary wave dynamics of a single viscoelastic supported film and of a double layer of immiscible viscoelastic supported films. Using both simple scaling arguments and a continuum hydrodynamic theory, we investigate the effects of ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Screening of electrostatic potential in a composite fermion system

open access: yes, 1998
Screening of the electric field of a test charge by monolayer and double-layer composite fermion systems is considered. It is shown that the electric field of the test charge is partly screened at distances much large then the magnetic length.
