Unusual case of difficult double-lumen endotracheal tube removal

open access: yes, 2019
A reusable Robertshaw red rubber double-lumen endotracheal tube (DLT) was placed to facilitate lung isolation for thoracoscopy in a 49-year-old atopic patient. In spite of its smooth insertion, it was then not possible to remove the DLT.

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

Early Detection and Inhibition of Post‐Surgical Cancer Recurrence by Synthetic Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An implantable hydrogel is designed to hold gene transfection agents engineered to turn early recurrent tumor cells into generators of synthetic EVs. These synthetic EVs can express engineered miR‐26a (E‐miR‐26a) for highly sensitive detection and PD‐1 (a PD‐L1‐blocking agent) for therapeutic intervention, thereby enabling early detection and ...

Research on predictive model for tracheal tube sizes in adult double-lumen endotracheal intubation based on radiomics and artificial intelligence

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectiveThis study aims to develop a predictive model for tracheal tube sizes in adult double-lumen endotracheal intubation using radiomics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance the safety and efficiency of intubation procedures ...

Alternating one lung ventilation using a double lumen endobronchial tube and providing CPAP to the non-ventilated lung in a dog

open access: yes, 2011
INTRODUCTION: This case report describes the anaesthetic management of exploratory thoracoscopy and alternating one lung ventilation (OLV) in a dog with a pulmonary bulla, and the application of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) to the non ...

MEOX1 Coordinates Autocrine‐Paracrine Programs via SPHK1/S1P to Promote Lymph Node Metastasis in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In ovarian cancer, MEOX1 activates the SPHK1/S1P pathway to promote both tumor progression and tumor–stroma crosstalk. MEOX1‐dependent signaling drives CAF activation, enhances VEGF‐C expression, and stimulates lymphangiogenesis, ultimately facilitating lymph node metastasis.

Gasdermin D‐Mediated Release of IL‐33 Results in Fetal Brain Developmental Abnormalities During Maternal Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under colitis, Gsdmd mediates the release of IL‐33 from the epithelium of pregnant mice. IL‐33 can cross the placenta and enhance the proliferative capacity of neural stem cells, ultimately resulting in behavioral deficits in the offspring. Excessive pyroptosis in the colonic epithelium also triggers the translocation of LPS, which in turn increases ...

A new technique to determine the size of double-lumen endobronchial tubes by the two perpendicularly measured bronchial diameters

open access: yes, 2005
The cross-section of the mainstem bronchi is not completely round. For preoperative selection of a double-lumen endobronchial tube size, it may be necessary to measure the mediolateral and the anteroposterior bronchial diameters, which can be measured ...
