Effects of the anesthesiologist’s experience on postoperative hoarseness after double-lumen endotracheal tube intubation: a single-center propensity score-matched analysis

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2020
Background Postoperative hoarseness after general anesthesia is associated with patient discomfort and dissatisfaction. A recent large retrospective study showed that single-lumen endotracheal tube intubation by a trainee did not alter the incidence of ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

A novel combined approach to placement of a double lumen endobronchial tube using a video laryngoscope and fiberoptic bronchoscope: a retrospective chart review

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Background The objective of this study was to evaluate a modern combined video laryngoscopy and flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope approach to placement of a double lumen endobronchial tube and further characterize potential strengths and weaknesses of ...

Microlaryngeal Tube-assisted Airway Rescue Following Intraoperative Haemorrhage during Right Bilobectomy for Bronchial Carcinoid - A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Onco-Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
A 29-year-old female (165 cm, 68 kg) with a 4.9 cm × 3.2 cm × 3.5 cm carcinoid tumour in the right intermediate bronchus underwent right bilobectomy. Despite pre-operative computed tomography showing anatomical distortion warranting fibre-optic guidance,

Tracheobronchial Injury caused by Blunt Trauma: Case Report and Review of Literature [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Tracheobronchial injuries are rare cases requiring skillful airway management. We report a challenging case of tracheobronchial injury in a young adult who was run over by a tractor and was referred to us from a peripheral hospital with endotracheal ...

Movement of Double-lumen Endobronchial Tubes Druing Position Change

open access: yes, 1994
Accurate placernent of double-lumen endobronchial tube is essential for successful one lung anesthesia. We studied 58 adult patients (38 males and 20 females) undergoing thoracic surgery under one lung anesthesia.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Fibrin glue injection method for complex fistula after laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2022
Background Pancreatic fistula is the most problematic complication in pancreatectomy. Although drainage can be used to relieve this complication, pancreatic surgeons often encounter refractory pancreatic fistula.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Gastric Decompression and Enteral Feeding Through a Double-Lumen Gastrojejunostomy Tube Improves Outcomes After Pancreaticoduodenectomy

open access: yes, 2004
A prospective, randomized, controlled trial revealed improved mean length of stay after pancreaticoduodenectomy when patients have a double-lumen gastrojejunostomy tube inserted for gastric decompression and enteral ...
