Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Effective use of a supraglottic airway (i-gel™) during emergence from anesthesia in a patient with multiple giant bullae

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports
Background Anesthetic management of a patient with multiple giant bullae is generally difficult due to an increased risk of respiratory complications, and there is no consensus regarding safe extubation methods.

Clinical, Histologic, and Serological Predictors of Renal Function Loss in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Kidney survival is the ultimate goal in lupus nephritis (LN) management, but long‐term predictors remain inadequately studied, requiring long‐term follow‐up. This study aimed to identify baseline and early longitudinal predictors of kidney survival in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership LN longitudinal cohort.

Iatrogenic rupture of the trachea caused by double Lumen tube intubation

open access: yes, 2010
Acute injuries of the tracheobronchial system are rare and life-threatening situations. Tracheal rupture most commonly occurs after blunt trauma to the chest. It is a rare but most concerning immediate complication of intubation.

A Retrospective study comparing Double Lumen Tube Size used in the Adult Indian Population Undergoing Elective Surgery requiring one Lung Ventilation and Isolation Versus the Double Lumen Tube size based on Bronchial Diameter from Computed Tomography (CT) of the Thorax [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
INTRODUCTION: The lungs are paired organs connected by bronchi and trachea and function as one unit. In order to perform procedures on the lung or provide optimal surgical exposure, surgeons may require lung separation and one-lung ventilation.

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...

Different classes of videoscopes and direct laryngoscopes for double-lumen tube intubation in thoracic surgery: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
BackgroundDouble-lumen tube is commonly used in thoracic surgeries that need one-lung ventilation, but its big size and stiff structure make it harder to perform intubation than a conventional tracheal intubation tube.ObjectivesTo investigate the ...
