Intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy using a linear stapler in laparoscopic total gastrectomy: comparison with circular stapling technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Laparoscopic total gastrectomy for gastric cancer is feasible but less commonly performed compared to laparoscopic distal gastrectomy due to technical difficulties such as reconstruction.

Ion‐Driven Regulation of Ca2+ Flow by Ti/Zn Composite Activates ERK/MAPK Signaling and Maintains Mitochondrial Homeostasis to Promote Macrophage‐Mediated Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed interpenetrating Ti/Zn composite enables sustained Zn2+ release to regulate intracellular Ca2+ redistribution, preserve mitochondrial homeostasis, activate ERK/MAPK signaling, and promote M2 macrophage polarization, thereby enhancing osteoimmune‐mediated bone regeneration and peri‐implant osseointegration.

Is Intraluminal Washout Necessary for Patients with Sigmoid Colon Cancer to Eliminate Exfoliated Cancer Cells as in Patients with Rectal Cancer? A Pilot Study at a Single Institute

open access: yesJournal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon, 2020
Objectives: Rectal stump washout has been widely performed to prevent the implantation of exfoliated cancer cells (ECCs) in patients with rectal cancer.

A method for in situ SEM fracture studies of brittle materials using the double torsion technique : application to nuclear graphite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work concerned the design and development of a miniature double torsion (DT) testing rig, for use inside the chamber of a scanning electron microscope, to perform in situ loading studies of brittle materials using the DT fracture mechanics specimen.

Drought Stress Mediated Changes in Food Crops: Mechanisms and Remediation Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a multi‐scale framework for flavonoid‐mediated drought tolerance in staple food crops, integrating ROS redox regulation, antioxidant defense, rhizosphere microbial interactions, and sustainable agronomic practices. This interdisciplinary model provides core insights to develop climate‐resilient cropping systems and enhance global ...

Triangulating Stapling Technique for Anastomosis in Laparoscopy-Assisted Pylorus-Preserving Gastrectomy

open access: yes, 2010
Background/Aims: The anastomosis performed during laparoscopy-assisted pylorus-preserving gastrectomy (PPG) is usually handsewn; however, the technique is sometimes difficult because it is done through a small incision and the level of

Antigen‐Detected NMR for Minimal Epitope Engineering and Structure‐Guided Selection of a NaV1.7‐Selective Nanobody

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A minimal extracellular epitope from voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.7 was engineered into an isotope‐labelled antigen for antigen‐detected nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Together with AlphaFold2 (AF2), this enabled structure‐guided selection of R4C8, a human NaV1.7‐selective nanobody that labels fixed NaV1.7‐expressing cells and produces staining

Dynamic Tendon Grip (DTG™) novel knot array compared to traditional sutures for zone two flexor tendon injury – a biomechanical feasibility study

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2022
Background Flexor tendon injuries pose many challenges for the treating surgeon, the principal of which is creating a strong enough repair to allow early active motion, preserving a low-profile of the repair to prevent buckling and subsequent pulley ...
