Design of double-walled carbon nanotubes for biomedical applications [PDF]

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2012
Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) prepared by catalytic chemical vapour deposition were functionalized in such a way that they were optimally designed as a nano-vector for the delivery of small interfering RNA (siRNA), which is of great interest for

Gas sensing with carbon nanotube networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDCarbon nanotubes are an exciting new material with exemplary mechanical and electronic properties. Carbon nanotubes can be either metallic or semiconducting; either type has properties which rival conventional materials.

Bromination of Double-Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry of Materials, 2012
Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) synthesized by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) have been functionalized by bromine vapor at room temperature. At least two different bromine species were detected in the product using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermal gravimetric analysis.

Superconductivity in Bundles of Double-Wall Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2012
AbstractWe present electrical and thermal specific heat measurements that show superconductivity in double-wall carbon nanotube (DWCNT) bundles. Clear evidence, comprising a resistance drop as a function of temperature, magnetoresistance and differential resistance signature of the supercurrent, suggest an intrinsic superconducting transition below 6.8

Toughening and hardening in double-walled carbon nanotube/nanostructured magnesia composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Dense double-walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT)/nanostructured MgO composites were prepared using an in situ route obviating any milling step for the synthesis of powders and consolidation by spark-plasma-sintering.

Rotational Dynamics and Friction in Double-Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
We report a study of the rotational dynamics in double-walled nanotubes using molecular dynamics simulations and a simple analytical model reproducing very well the observations. We show that the dynamic friction is linear in the angular velocity for a wide range of values.

Field electron emission of double walled carbon nanotube film prepared by drop casting method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Thick films of double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCN) were deposited on indium-tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates by drop casting method and were studied for their field electron emission property in a parallel plate configuration using bare ITO ...

The Raman Response of Double Wall Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Raman spectroscopy on carbon nanotubes (CNT) yields a rich variety of information owing to the close interplay between electronic and vibrational properties. In this paper, we review the properties of double wall carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs). In particular, it is shown that SWCNT encapsulating C$_{60}$, so-called peapods, are transformed into DWCNTs when ...

DNA Directed Self-Assembly of Carbon Nanotube Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Production of pure carbon nanotube species and organization of nanoscale structure are two fundamental barriers to the utilization of CNTs in nanoelectronics.

Nanomechanics of Nonideal Single‐ and Double‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, 2012
The buckling characteristics of nonideal single‐ and double‐walled carbon nanotubes were studied in this work via molecular dynamics simulation method. An imperfectly straight nonideal single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) with a bent along the tube axis was used to form an array which is subjected to compression.
