Double-Walled Carbon Nanotube Processing

Advanced Materials, 2015
Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have been the focus of intense research, and the body of literature continues to grow exponentially, despite more than two decades having passed since the first reports. As well as extensive studies of the fundamental properties, this has seen SWCNTs used in a plethora of applications as far ranging as ...

Carbon Nanotube Ecotoxicity in Amphibians: Assessment of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes and Comparison with Double-Walled Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesNanomedicine, 2010
The potential impact of industrial multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) was investigated under normalized laboratory conditions according to the International Standard micronucleus assay ISO 21427-1 for 12 days of half-static exposure to 0.1, 1, 10 and 50 mg/l of MWNTs in water.

Fluorination of double-walled carbon nanotubes

Chemical Communications, 2005
Fluorine atoms are selectively attached to the sidewall of the outer shell of DWNTs without disrupting the double-layered morphology; the stoichiometry of the fluorinated DWNTs is CF(0.30).

Hydrogenated double wall carbon nanotubes

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2009
Herein, we investigate the chemisorption of hydrogen on double wall carbon nanotubes (DWCNT) employing density functional theory and periodic boundary conditions. In agreement with recent investigations based on Lennard-Jones potentials, we found that the (n,m)@(n+9,m) combination is favored for tubes with small diameters.

Bundles of identical double-walled carbon nanotubes

Chemical Communications, 2004
In a sample produced by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD), the structure of the carbon nanotubes (diameter and helicity) which governs their electronic properties, is determined by electron diffraction. We found that most of the smallest bundles are constituted of identical double-walled carbon nanotubes.

Double-walled carbon nanotubes: Challenges and opportunities

Nanoscale, 2011
Double-walled carbon nanotubes are coaxial nanostructures composed of exactly two single-walled carbon nanotubes, one nested in another. This unique structure offers advantages and opportunities for extending our knowledge and application of the carbon nanomaterials family.

Rings of Double-Walled Carbon Nanotube Bundles

Nano Letters, 2003
Rings composed of double-walled carbon nanotubes coherently packed in a triangular arrangement are observed and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron diffraction. Our conclusions are based on the interpretation of the real space images obtained by TEM and on the analysis of selected area electron diffraction patterns with

Double-Walled Carbon Nanotube Solar Cells

Nano Letters, 2007
We directly configured double-walled carbon nanotubes as energy conversion materials to fabricate thin-film solar cells, with nanotubes serving as both photogeneration sites and a charge carriers collecting/transport layer. The solar cells consist of a semitransparent thin film of nanotubes conformally coated on a n-type crystalline silicon substrate ...

Diffusion of Walls in Double‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Fullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures, 2006
Possibility of rigid and non-rigid diffusion of the walls in double-walled carbon nanotubes with armchair and zigzag walls is considered. Diffusion coefficients and mobilities are calculated using ab initio values of the barriers to relative motion of the walls.

Double-Wall Carbon Nanotubes

2007
Double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) are the simplest archetypicalmanifestation of MWNTs and as such combine the outstanding properties of SWNTswith the possibility to study concentric intertube interactions with highprecision. Two complementary routes for the efficient growth of DWNTs arediscussed.
