Tube–tube interaction in double‐wall carbon nanotubes
physica status solidi (b), 2006AbstractIn a Raman map of double‐wall carbon nanotubes, the radial breathing modes of the inner tubes are grouped into clusters with similar resonance behavior. These clusters are located close to the resonances of SDS wrapped HiPco tubes and can spread over 30 cm–1. Compared to the HiPco tubes the resonances of the inner tubes are shifted about 50 meV

Coaxial nanocables of codoped double-walled carbon nanotubes
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2009The electronic and optical properties of codoped double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs), in which nucleophilic atoms (potassium) are adsorbed outside the outer tube and electrophilic molecules (NO2) are adsorbed inside the inner tube, are investigated by density functional theory. It is found that the inner core tube is p-type doped and the outer shell

Tailoring double-wall carbon nanotubes?
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003Double‐wall carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) are interesting nano‐objects derived from single‐wall nanotubes (SWNTs) whose potentiality for some applications (such as composite reinforcement) are even more promising than for SWNTs. Depending on the respective chirality of the inner and outer SWNTs involved, electronic properties may also vary, with subsequent ...

Investigation of the Pulmonary Bioactivity of Double-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part A, 2013Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNT) are a rather new and unexplored variety of carbon nanotubes. Previously conducted studies established that exposure to a variety of carbon nanotubes produced lung inflammation and fibrosis in mice after pharyngeal aspiration.

Raman scattering from double‐walled carbon nanotubes
Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, 2007AbstractRaman scattering from double‐walled carbon nanotubes is reported with particular emphasis on the response from the radial breathing mode (RBM) of the inner‐shell tubes. The unexpected large number of very narrow lines observed is explained by the growth of one and the same inner tube type in different outer tubes in a highly shielded ...

Nitrogen- and Boron-Doped Double-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
ACS Nano, 2007Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) doped with nitrogen and boron have been prepared by the decomposition of a CH(4) + Ar mixture along with pyridine (or NH(3)) and diborane, respectively, over a Mo(0.1)Fe(0.9)Mg(13)O catalyst, prepared by the combustion route.

Spectroscopy of Single- and Double-Wall Carbon Nanotubes in Different Environments
Nano Letters, 2005Individual single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) were suspended in water for optical studies using sodium-cholate and other surfactants. We used time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy to study the influence of tube chirality and diameter as well as of the environment on nonradiative decay in small ...

Electron Diffraction of an In Situ Strained Double‐Walled Carbon Nanotube
Advanced Materials, 2014The strain-induced change in a carbon-nanotube diffraction pattern is found after applying strain, using a microelectromechanical tensile stage, to the outer shell of a double-walled carbon nanotube, while the inner shell provides an unstrained reference pattern.

Phonon spectrum of double-wall carbon nanotubes
Physics of the Solid State, 2006The results of studying the phonon spectra of carbon nanotubes within the framework of the periodic-cluster model are presented. Special attention is paid to the phonon spectrum of double-wall nanotubes. It is shown that the spectrum is separated into two subbands corresponding to the acoustic and optical vibrational modes.

Band structures of double-walled carbon nanotubes
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 2006The tight-binding model is used to investigate band structures of zigzag double-walled carbon nanotubes. The intertube interactions significantly change symmetry of energy bands, energy dispersions, Fermi energy, energy gap, and wave functions. Electronic properties are also affected by the magnetic flux and the Zeeman effect. The main features of band
