Randomized phase 3 evaluation of trifarotene 50 μg/g cream treatment of moderate facial and truncal acne. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Acne vulgaris often affects the face, shoulders, chest, and back, but treatment of nonfacial acne has not been rigorously studied. OBJECTIVES: Assess the safety and efficacy of trifarotene 50 μg/g cream, a novel topical retinoid, in moderate ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Simulative Investigation of the Influence of Different Abrasive Coating Structures in Double Face Grinding

open access: yesJournal of Machine Engineering
The double face grinding process is a manufacturing process that is used when machining plane-parallel surfaces, for example during the production of bearing rings, wafers, seal and regulator disks.

A two-sided analogue of the Coxeter complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
For any Coxeter system $(W,S)$ of rank $n$, we introduce an abstract boolean complex (simplicial poset) of dimension $2n-1$ that contains the Coxeter complex as a relative subcomplex.

Spin Gap and the Nature of the 4d3 Magnetic Ground State in the Frustrated FCC Antiferromagnet Ba2YRuO6

open access: yes, 2013
The geometrically frustrated double perovskite Ba2YRuO6 has magnetic 4d3 Ru5+ ions decorating an undistorted face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice. This material has been previously reported to exhibit commensurate long-range antiferromagnetic order below ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

High order WKB prediction of the energy splitting in the symmetric double well potential

open access: yes, 2000
The accuracy of the WKB approximation when predicting the energy splitting of bound states in a double well potential is the main subject of this paper.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

INTEGRATING GERIATRICS INTO THE ACUTE HOSPITAL SETTING: NOW OR IN THE FUTURE? [PDF]

open access: yes
The demographic ageing of the population and its impact on social systems, economies or labor markets have often been analyzed and discussed in Germany. The German health care system is expected to face great challenges due to the “double-ageing” of the ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
