Galois theory and a new homotopy double groupoid of a map of spaces [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Categorical Structures, 2002
The authors have used generalised Galois Theory to construct a homotopy double groupoid of a surjective fibration of Kan simplicial sets. Here we apply this to construct a new homotopy double groupoid of a map of spaces, which includes constructions by ...

Double groupoids in the theory of material uniformity [PDF]

open access: green, 2021
The use of double groupoids and their associated double Lie algebroids and characteristic distributions is proposed for the description and analysis of continuous media that carry two different constitutive or geometric structures. Various measures of misalignment and lack of uniformity that may arise when two individually perfectly uniform structures ...

Double Fell bundles over discrete double groupoids with folding [PDF]

open access: green, 2007
In this paper we construct the notions of double Fell bundle and double C*-category for possible future use as tools to describe noncommutative spaces, in particular in finite dimensions. We identify the algebra of sections of a double Fell line bundle over a discrete double groupoid with folding with the convolution algebra of the latter.

Actions of Double Group-groupoids and Covering Morphism

open access: diamondGazi University Journal of Science, 2020
The purpose of the paper is to consider the covering morphism and the action of a double groupoid on a groupoid; and then characterize these notions for double group- groupoids. We also give a categorical equivalence between the actions and covering morphisms of double group-groupoids.

A homotopy double groupoid of a Hausdorffspace II: a van Kampen theorem [PDF]

open access: bronzeTheory and Applications of Categories, 2005
This paper is the second in a series exploring the properties of a functor which assigns a homotopy double groupoid with connections to a Hausdorff space. We show that this functor satisfies a version of the van Kampen theorem, and so is a suitable tool for nonabelian, 2-dimensional, local-to-global problems.

Examples of Weak Hopf Algebras Arising from Vacant Double Groupoids [PDF]

open access: bronzeNagoya Mathematical Journal, 2006
AbstractWe construct explicit examples of weak Hopf algebras (actually face algebras in the sense of Hayashi [H]) via vacant double groupoids as explained in [AN]. To this end, we first study the Kac exact sequence for matched pairs of groupoids and show that it can be computed via group cohomology.

Double groupoids of composites: applications to uniformity [PDF]

open access: green
In this paper we present a geometrical framework to study the uniformity of a composite material by means of double groupoid theory. The notions of vertical and horizontal uniformity are introduced, as well as other weaker ones that allows us to study other possible notions of more general uniformity.
