Research on Damage Assessment of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Column Subjected to Near-Field Blast Loading

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns are widely used in engineering structures, and they have many different cross section types. Among these, normal solid sections and concrete-filled double-skin steel tubular sections are often used.

Double-action magnetic-impulse compaction of oxide nanoceramics

open access: yesИнтернет-журнал Науковедение, 2013
The technology of two-sided magnetic pulsed compaction is offered as an effective method of obtaining high-density powder compacts (up to 78% of the theoretical density). The high level of density of compacts is provided by two-sided pulsed application of pressure stimulating the process of dispersion of powder and the generation of excess defects as ...

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Stochastic Differential Games Involving Impulse Controls and Double-Obstacle Quasi-variational Inequalities [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2013
We study a two-player zero-sum stochastic differential game with both players adopting impulse controls, on a finite time horizon. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs (HJBI) partial differential equation of the game turns out to be a double-obstacle quasi-variational inequality, therefore the two obstacles are implicitly given.

Solar Heating Enhanced Selective Recovery of Metal Ions Through Flowing Electrodes Enabled by Hybrid Carbon Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new electrochemical system based on a microporous hybrid of carbon nanoplatelets and nanotubes to selectively capture Ni2+ from wastewater is constructed. The system temperature rises rapidly when irradiated with sunlight, which enhances the Ni2+ removal rate by 250% and the selectivity by 53%, and the energy consumption is also reduced by 51 ...

Dynamic Analysis of General Integrated Pest Management Model with Double Impulsive Control

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2015
A general predator-prey model with disease in the prey and double impulsive control is proposed and investigated for the purpose of integrated pest management. By using the Floquet theory, the comparison theorem of impulsive differential equations, and the persistence theory of dynamical systems, we obtain that if threshold valueR0<1, then the ...

Synthetic Nanobiology Actuated Lipometabolic Cell Factory for Autologous Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FA plays a crucial role in the interaction between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment, especially for the immune response. A biocatalytic immunoenhancement strategy is developed to boost antitumor immunity by FA metabolic orientation to ceramide. Through the design of this delicate catalytic immunoenhancement strategy, the synthetic nanobiology

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

Kerr black holes as elementary particles

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Long ago, Newman and Janis showed that a complex deformation z → z + ia of the Schwarzschild solution produces the Kerr solution. The underlying explanation for this relationship has remained obscure.
