From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

On multiplicative (strong) linear preservers of majorizations [PDF]

open access: yesSahand Communications in Mathematical Analysis, 2016
‎In this paper, we study some kinds of majorizations on $textbf{M}_{n}$ and their linear or strong linear preservers. Also, we find the structure of linear or strong linear preservers which are multiplicative, i.e.

A 3D Human Neuron‐on‐Chip Platform to Monitor Neuronal Injury Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel 3D Neuron‐on‐Chip model that can maintain human PSC‐derived excitatory prefrontal cortex neurons in 3D hydrogels and can be used to monitor neuronal injury responses over time. Results show injury‐induced acute neuronal excitotoxicity, declining neuronal connectivity, and the activation of a neurodegenerative, SASP‐like ...

A multi-state weather generator for daily precipitation for the Torne River basin, northern Sweden/western Finland

open access: yesAdvances in Climate Change Research, 2016
This paper describes a new weather generator – the 10-state empirical model – that combines a 10-state, first-order Markov chain with a non-parametric precipitation amounts model. Using a doubly-stochastic transition-matrix results in a weather generator

Riemannian Newton-CG methods for constructing a positive doubly stochastic matrix from spectral data* [PDF]

open access: yesInverse Problems, 2020
Abstract In this paper, we consider the inverse eigenvalue problem for the positive doubly stochastic matrices, which aims to construct a positive doubly stochastic matrix from the prescribed realizable spectral data. By using the real Schur decomposition, the inverse problem is written as a nonlinear matrix equation on a matrix ...

Flax Composites With Improved Interfacial Strength Through Microbially Induced Mineral Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biomineralization strategy introduces an additional hierarchy to flax fiber composites. By controlling microbe‐mediated mineral particle deposition through tuned salt concentrations, stress transfer within the natural fiber composite is enhanced.

Dynamic Mechanical Loading Modulates Extracellular Vesicle Production and Cargo in Meniscus Fibrochondrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Dynamic mechanical loading of outer meniscus fibrochondrocytes increases extracellular vesicle (EV) yield and alters EV composition. When applied to progenitor cells, these mechanically primed EVs modulate the expression of matrix‐related genes.
