A Parallel Douglas-Rachford Algorithm for Minimizing ROF-like Functionals on Images with Values in Symmetric Hadamard Manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal of Imaging Sciences, 2015
We are interested in restoring images having values in a symmetric Hadamard manifold by minimizing a functional with a quadratic data term and a total variation--like regularizing term.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Geometry Dictates Neuronal Bursting via Calcium Store Refill Rates and Exposes Selective Neuronal Vulnerability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ER's continuous tubular network is maintained by ER‐shaping proteins whose mutation or dysregulation contributes to neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we show that ER morphology sets the speed of Ca2+ store replenishment between firing events. Disrupting ER continuity slows intra‐ER Ca2+ redistribution from extracellular refill (SOCE) sites, driving

Dynamic regulation of NMDAR function in the adult brain by the stress hormone corticosterone

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2012
Stress and corticosteroids dynamically modulate the expression of synaptic plasticity at glutamatergic synapses in the developed brain. Together with alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid receptors (AMPAR), N-methyl-D-aspartate ...

Relationships Among Structures, Team Processes, and Outcomes for Service Users in Quebec Mental Health Service Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Integrated Care, 2020
Background: Few studies have identified and compared profiles of mental health service networks (MHSN) in terms of structures, processes, and outcomes, based on cluster analyses and perceptions of team managers, MH professionals and service users.

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

Verbal memory impairments in schizophrenia associated with cortical thinning

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2016
Verbal memory (VM) represents one of the most affected cognitive domains in schizophrenia. Multiple studies have shown that schizophrenia is associated with cortical abnormalities, but it remains unclear whether these are related to VM impairments ...

Small bowel obstruction secondary to foam earplug ingestion

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2020
We describe a case of a 12 month old male who presented with small bowel obstruction (SBO) secondary to ingestion of a foam ear plug. Both X-ray and ultrasound failed to pick up the cause of obstruction.

Antisocial and impulsive personality traits are linked to individual differences in somatosensory maps of emotion

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Somatosensory experience is an important component of emotion, playing a prominent role in many traditional emotion theories. Nonetheless, and despite the extensive literature on the influence of individual differences in emotional processing, the ...

A High‐Throughput Live Imaging Platform to Investigate Circuit‐Dependent Regulation of Circadian Rhythms in Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biological rhythms coordinate physiology, from genes to behavior. Study of circadian rhythms in brain tissue is constrained by limited throughput and spatial and temporal information quality. A new platform for high‐throughput, long‐term multiplexed fluorescent live imaging of circadian rhythms in brain slices is introduced.
