The accretion geometry of intermediate polars (DQ her stars)
Advances in Space Research, 1988The Cataclysmic Variables (CV) are interacting binary systems in which a white dwarfstar accretes matter from a red dwarf companion that is filling its Roche limiting surface (for reviews see /1/ /2/ /3/). It has become apparent in recent years that the white dwarfstar in some CV has a magnetic field which is strong enough to influence the flow of ...

We review the properties of the DQ Herculis stars: cataclysmic variables containing an accreting, magnetic, rapidly rotating white dwarf. These stars are characterized by strong X-ray emission, high-excitation spectra, and very stable optical and X-ray pulsations in their light curves. There is considerable resemblance to their more famous cousins, the

On the Optical Pulsations in DQ Her Stars
1995DQ Her stars are cataclysmic binary systems in which matter from a late-type near-main sequence star is accreted onto an asynchronously spinning magnetized white dwarf. X-rays generated at shocks at the magnetic poles of the white dwarf sweep the system with a “lighthouse” beam, producing optical signals modulated at the spin period of the white dwarf ...

As an intermediate frequency power source, the double star windings shifted by 30° synchronous generator with axial magnetic field (DSWAMF) is widely used in the different areas. Using the generalized inverse, the transformation matrix of double windings synchronous generators with two Y-connected 3-phase symmetrical windings displaced in turn by 30 ...

Photometry of the New DQ HER Star, RX J0558.0+5353
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1996Times series CCD photometry of RX J0558.0+5353 reveals optical variations similar to the X-ray variations seen by ROSAT. These variations are about 0.04 magnitudes (semiamplitude) in unfiltered light. Fourier analysis of these time series indicates that the rotation period of the white dwarf is twice the reported X-ray period.
