Deconstructing Frame-Dragging [PDF]
The vorticity of world-lines of observers associated with the rotation of a massive body was reported by Lense and Thirring more than a century ago. In their example, the frame-dragging effect induced by the vorticity is directly (explicitly) related to the rotation of the source.

Antimicrobial Activity of Lactobacillus plantarum Strains Isolated from Fermented Olives Origin
Background: Lactobacillus plantarum isolated from fermented olives has been extensively studied with the aim of its use in starter cultures for olive or other production fermentations, but little is known about its antimicrobial resistance and its ...

An Empirical Model of Aerodynamic Drag in Alpine Skiing
This paper describes an empirical model of aerodynamic drag for a range of body positions commonly used in alpine skiing. In order to calculate the drag coefficient (CD), a method for calculating the frontal area of an alpine skier, inside a wind tunnel,

Streamwise-traveling waves of spanwise wall velocity for turbulent drag reduction [PDF]
Waves of spanwise velocity imposed at the walls of a plane turbulent channel flow are studied by Direct Numerical Simulations. We consider sinusoidal waves of spanwise velocity which vary in time and are modulated in space along the streamwise direction.

Heteroglossia and Fragmentariness in the Absent Therapist by Will Eaves
In “Discourse in the Novel” Mikhail Bakhtin argues that heteroglossia - a diversity of voices or languages - is one of the essential properties of the novel.

Crossover from hydrodynamic to acoustic drag on quartz tuning forks in normal and superfluid 4He [PDF]
We present measurements of the drag forces on quartz tuning forks oscillating at low velocities in normal and superfluid 4He. We have investigated the dissipative drag over a wide range of frequencies, from 6.5 to 600 kHz, by using arrays of forks with ...

Effect of pulsatile flow to drag of a two-dimensional bluff body
Drag and velocity measurement on a two-dimensional bluff body has been performed in a pulsatile flow. Circular and rectangular cylinders were selected in the present study.

Van der Waals Frictional Drag induced by Liquid Flow in Low- Dimensional Systems [PDF]
We study the van der Waals frictional drag force induced by liquid flow in low-dimensional systems (2D and 1D electron systems, and 2D and 1D channels with liquid). We find that for both 1D and 2D systems, the frictional drag force induced by liquid flow

Electron drag in ferromagnetic structures separated by an insulating interface
We consider electron drag in a system of two ferromagnetic layers separated by an insulating interface. The source of it is expected to be magnon-electron interactions.
