Numerical Simulation of Foulings on the Marine Vessels Body and Application of Newly Recommended Techniques to Reduce the Resulting Drag Force

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2016
In this research, the effects of foulings on the outer surface of a marine vessel have been studied using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods. To this end, a proper turbulence model was considered and validated for the simulations.

Semianalytical Approximation of the Fluid Drag in Projectile Motion Using Newton's Equation of Motion

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics
A body moving in a fluid experiences some of the fluid-induced forces, which may derail the body from its fluid-free trajectory and consequently transform its maximum height reached, time of flight, and range.

Drag force in AdS/CFT

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2006
The AdS/CFT correspondence and a classical test string approximation are used to calculate the drag force on an external quark moving in a thermal plasma of N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. This computation is motivated by the phenomenon of jet-quenching in relativistic heavy ion collisions.

Untethered Magnetic Microswimmers for Targeted Particle Transport and Flow Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work introduces magnetically actuated microswimmers to dynamically reconfigure fluid flow within a single microfluidic device. Multiple homogeneous microswimmers are independently controlled by an external magnetic field to perform translational and rotational motions, thereby inducing real‐time flow manipulation.

Multiscale Acoustic Bubble Actuators Using Bioinspired Liquid‐Repellent Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The article presents multiscale acoustic bubble actuators using bioinspired liquid‐repellent microstructures, enabling programmable trapping, pumping, mixing, and precise flow control. Mimicking springtail microstructures, these scalable actuators (200 µm–1 mm) offer multifunctionality in all‐in‐one devices, letter‐shaped arrays, and 3D cube ...

Directed Navigation of Magnetotactic Bacteria via Magnetotaxis in a 3D Vasculature‐On‐A‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A perfusable vascular network is developed to investigate MTB at the single‐microorganism level. MTB is demonstrated to successfully align and navigate along the magnetic field inside the microvessels. Abstract Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB), inherently motile and self‐powered, are promising biorobotic candidates for targeted anti‐cancer drug delivery ...
