Megalomaniacal Plans

open access: yesDrawing On, 2019
If there is one drawing indispensable to the description and production of architecture it is the plan. As it slices through space and substance, it allows us to describe and communicate the partis, construction and circulation of a building, all with ...

Drawing Drawings: Toward a Narrative Architecture

open access: yesArchitecture Image Studies, 2020
This introductory article opens the subject matter of the second issue of AIS, Narrative Architecture. Drawings have always contained the possibility of being more radical than the architecture they represent. Given the status of architecture within the current building industry, architecture needs to be oppositional to the values of laissez-faire ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Anexact but Rigorous

open access: yesDrawing On, 2018
Anexact but Rigorous offers an analytical redrawing of the plans of a series of recent projects by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa. It describes generative geometrical operations common to these projects and, in turn, articulates a set of recurring ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Drawing machines, bathing machines, motorbikes, the stars…: where are the masterpieces? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The term ‘digital drawing’ may imply a special kind of drawing, set against a natural approach. Previous generations also had to adjust to the new technologies of the time. Some resisted, some went ahead.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

The Authenticity of Diriyah: Between the Philosophy of Place and Time as a Foundation for Designing Contemporary Artwork

open access: yesالاكاديمي
This study delves into the integration of the philosophical concepts of space and time within the context of Diriyah's rich cultural and historical backdrop, aiming to leverage these concepts as foundational pillars for innovative artistic design within
