Neither right nor wrong? Ethics of collaboration in transformative research for sustainable futures

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
Transformative research is a broad and loosely connected family of research disciplines and approaches, with the explicit normative ambition to fundamentally question the status quo, change the dominant structures, and support just sustainability ...

COVID-19 pandemic increased ESKAPEEc bloodstream infections and amplified carbapenem resistance in Chinese children: a multicenter surveillance study (2016–2023)

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
ObjectiveThis study investigated the long-term trends in the distribution and antibiograms of ESKAPEEc pathogens in neonatal and pediatric bloodstream infections (BSIs), shifts in minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of vancomycin and linezolid in ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Drift retardant chemical effects on spray droplet size, pattern and drift

open access: yes, 1995
Objectives of this study were to determine the effects of various drift retardant chemicals on droplet size, spray pattern, and spray drift reduction of sprays from an XR 8004VH fan-pattern nozzle. Results indicated that, at recommended rates, Na1co-trol

On the Asymptotics of Drift

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2004
We prove that there exist infinitely many asymptotics of drift for random walks on finitely generated groups.

Data stream mining: methods and challenges for handling concept drift

open access: yesSN Applied Sciences, 2019
Mining and analysing streaming data is crucial for many applications, and this area of research has gained extensive attention over the past decade. However, there are several inherent problems that continue to challenge the hardware and the state-of-the

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
