Penetrating brain injury by drill bit

Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2008
Non-missile low velocity penetrating brain injuries are unusual among civilian population. They show specific characteristics different from missile wounds. In this paper we describe a rare case of self-inflicted penetrating head trauma by electric drill. We document neuroimaging studies and review the management concerning this pathology.

Improved Hardfacing for Drill Bits and Drilling Tools

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2010
Abstract New flame spray hardfacing, DSH (DuraShell Steel Hardfacing, US patent pending), is developed to improve thermal conductivity, abrasion wear and erosion resistance for subterranean drilling application. The hardfacing materials consist of spherical cast WC/W2C and Ni-Si-B alloy powders.

Brace, Bits and Drills

1962
Boring holes is often necessary in woodwork. It is a comparatively simple operation to perform, and if care is taken and a few precautions are followed, you should have no difficulty. Holes must be located accurately; they must be bored at the correct angle, and the wood should not be allowed to split when the bit comes through the back of the stock ...

Effects of Slugger Drill Bits in Drilling of Composites

Volume 3: Design and Manufacturing, 2007
One of the problems in machining of composites is related with the fibers as reinforcement, due to their abrasiveness, causing fast tool wear and deterioration of machined surface. Among all the damages that can occur in the drilling of a composite plate, delamination is the most serious, as it can cause loss of mechanical strength of laminate plates ...

Innovation in Drilling Using Replaceable Drilling Bit

SPE Middle East Oil and Gas Show and Conference, 2007
Abstract In conventional drilling a majority of drilling problems occur during tripping such as key seating and wall sticking. This leads to increase in rig time hence cost is unnecessarily high, especially in deep sea drilling. Conventional drilling techniques use rotary drill bits which need to be replaced depending on ...

ADVANCE DRILL BIT DESIGNED FOR MINIMUM COST DRILLING

Proceedings of Middle East Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1979
Abstract The Tri-Max* is a new bit developed after five years of research and field tests with the main objective of minimizing the drilling cost. The trade name Tri-Max stands for:–Maximum Footage–Maximum Rate of Penetration–Maximum Safety The Tri-Max bit runs have achieved a 38% increase in the ...
