Mindset Over Mayhem: Integrating Cognitive Readiness and Naturalistic Decision Making Into the CSCATTT Framework for Crisis Management

open access: yesJournal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Volume 34, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Major incidents (MIs) represent critical contingency failures that expose deep, systemic vulnerabilities within the inter‐organizational crisis management ecosystem. These weaknesses transcend mere logistical shortcomings, revealing a profound inability to manage the inherent “wicked” nature of complex, uncertain crises.

Drill-string nonlinear dynamics accounting for the drilling fluid

open access: yes, 2009
The influence of the drilling fluid (or mud) on the drill-string dynamics is analyzed in this paper. Usually the presence of the fluid is not taken into account in the analysis of the nonlinear dynamics of a drill-string. The aim of this paper is to investigate how the fluid affects this dynamics using a simplified fluid-structure interaction model ...

Methods for assessing problem‐solving competencies in preschoolers: A scoping review

open access: yesReview of Education, Volume 14, Issue 2, August 2026.
Abstract Problem‐solving is an important 21st‐century skill and an indispensable part of early STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education. To effectively study the development of children's problem‐solving competencies and to evaluate the effectiveness of classroom interventions and programmes, researchers and educators need ...

From SMILES Codes for Reactants and Products to Transition States With VeloxChem

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 47, Issue 18, July 5, 2026.
Initial guesses for transition state optimizations are produced from a mere input of reactant and product SMILES codes, and achieved by interpolating generated force fields for reactants and products. The entire workflow scheme is implemented in the VeloxChem software.
