Microbial Contamination of Vegetables Irrigated with Sewage Effluent by the Drip Method

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1978
The effect of the drip irrigation method on microbial contamination of vegetables irrigated with wastewater was evaluated. The density of microbial contamination on surfaces of cucumbers and eggplants irrigated with sewage effluent was determined, using a controlled washing procedure. The fecal coliform count on vegetables irrigated with wastewater was

How does leaf age affect performance? A comparative study of essential oils from young and mature Eucalyptus globulus leaves in crop protection

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.

Effects of timed LED regimes on tomato plant traits, performance of two‐spotted spider mites, and predatory mites (Phytoseiulus persimilis)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2300-2311, April 2025.
Light‐emitting diode (LED)‐based treatments for enhancing crop production and pest management have primarily focused on continuous treatments. This study, using Tetranychus urticae and Phytoseiulus persimilis, demonstrates that the timing of LED supplementation is crucial for designing integrated pest management strategies that improve both plant ...
