Business Cycle Synchronization During US Recessions Since the Beginning of the 1870's [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper examines the synchronization of business cycles across the G7 countries during US recessions since the 1870's. Using a dynamic measure of business cycle synchronization, results depend on the globalisation period under consideration.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Demagnetization Analysis of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors Under Realistic Vehicle Driving Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access
Electric vehicles primarily use interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) as traction motors. Although IPMSMs are powerful and efficient, their neodymium-based permanent magnets are susceptible to demagnetization under high-temperature ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Finite Time Analysis of a Tri-Generation Cycle

open access: yes, 2015
A review of the literature indicates that current tri-generation cycles show low thermal performance, even when optimised for maximum useful output. This paper presents a Finite Time analysis of a tri-generation cycle that is based upon coupled power and

Construction of Battery Electric Vehicle Driving Cycles Based on Improved Grey Wolf Optimized K-Means Clustering: A Case Study for Qingdao, China

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
Standardized driving cycles often inadequately represent the driving patterns specific to a particular city, and variations in vehicle types within the same city further contribute to discrepancies in driving cycles.

Using the Equal-Power-Based MCE to Transform Driving Cycles With Road Grade for Testing Heavy-Duty Vehicle Fuel Consumption on Dynamometer

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Chassis dynamometer testing based on representative driving cycles is commonly performed in the evaluation of the fuel economy of heavy-duty vehicles. However, the requirement for a zero or fixed grade when using a traditional chassis dynamometer results

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
