An Approach for Pattern Recognition of EEG Applied in Prosthetic Hand Drive

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2011
For controlling the prosthetic hand by only electroencephalogram (EEG), it has become the hot spot in robotics research to set up a direct communication and control channel between human brain and prosthetic hand. In this paper, the EEG signal is analyzed based on multi-complicated hand activities.

Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Survival in Western Kenya: Reduction in Early Deaths and Treatment Abandonment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An earlier study on children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kenya reported a low event‐free survival (EFS), excess treatment abandonment, and high induction mortality.

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Misperception of Body Weight After Childhood Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Misperception of body weight can negatively impact the weight management efforts of childhood cancer survivors (CCSs). Both being overweight or underweight are associated with chronic health conditions commonly observed in CCS; therefore, accurate weight perception is critical for reducing long‐term health risks.

Clinical, Histopathological, and Molecular Characterization of Pediatric MN1::ZNF341‐Associated Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A lethal round‐cell malignancy with an MN1::ZNF341 fusion has recently been reported in three infants. Here, we describe four further tumors, three in newborns (including monozygotic twins), and one in an adolescent. Detailed clinical, radiological, and histopathological data differentiate these tumors from their main mimics, neuroblastoma and

Machine Vision Based Traffic Sign Detection Methods: Review, Analyses and Perspectives

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Traffic signs recognition (TSR) is an important part of some advanced driver-assistance systems (ADASs) and auto driving systems (ADSs). As the first key step of TSR, traffic sign detection (TSD) is a challenging problem because of different types, small

Alternate Mechanisms of Initial Pattern Recognition Drive Differential Immune Responses to Related Poxviruses [PDF]

open access: yesCell Host & Microbe, 2010
Vaccinia immunization was pivotal to successful smallpox eradication. However, the early immune responses that distinguish poxvirus immunization from pathogenic infection remain unknown. To address this, we developed a strategy to map the activation of key signaling networks in vivo and applied this approach to define and compare the earliest signaling

Bridging the Gap in Neuroblastoma Care: Consensus‐Based Statements With Recommendations for Improved Patient and Caregiver Experiences

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma's complex, heterogeneous biology poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, often requiring caregivers to absorb complex information and participate in time‐sensitive decisions. However, caregivers often feel unprepared to evaluate options.
